A Typical Day

For those of you following my blog, you may have been wondering, “Where in the world has Mark been”?  Or maybe you, as one of my few followers, have said, “Has he been gone”?  Ha ha.   Hmm, that reminds me…Tonya used to say that to me from time to time when we would be apart for a while and I had asked her if she missed me. I’m not laughing now.

I’ve not been able to blog nearly as much as I’ve wanted to in 2012.  Life for the Elkins Family has been very busy, and a typical day is much different than it was a year ago.  I have had the privilege, though, of writing a few devotional articles that have been published on the “Christian News Blog” at http://www.christian-news-today.com.  Please take some time to check them out on this site.  Just search for my name and you’ll see them.  I thank the Lord for giving me these words, and I hope they will be a blessing to those who read them.

What a year it has been for my family! Since Tonya’s massive stroke in December of last year, our lives have totally changed, as I wrote about back in the Spring.  But God has shown us that He is in full control, and nothing has surprised Him!

A typical day now in our lives is also filled with praise and thankfulness for what God has done for Tonya…and the rest of our family.  I truly understand alot better these past 9 months or so the words of Solomon in Proverbs 27:1, “Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth”.  We may often think that we have today, tomorrow, or the future all planned out, but only our Creator knows exactly what’s going to take place in our lives each day.  I’ve found it very wise to trust Him one day at a time, and rejoice that every morning we are able to open our eyes is a precious gift from Him!

I pray that, as our family has learned through Tonya’s recovery process, you also will consider it a typical day in your life to be able to rejoice that you are a child of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords!!

Such wonderful words Mark. I so appreciate your faithfulness to our Savior in writing what He places on your heart! We continue to pray for you, Tonya, and the whole family.

  2. I’m so glad to see you blogging again, Mark! You always have such inspirational things to say. Thank you for sharing how your life has changed now. I always pray for Tonya’s recovery but also for God to give you the strength you need to take care of your family, your work, and yourself. I’m proud of all that you do and who you are. Love you!
